Capela da Quinta do Vesúvio 2022 Vintage Port - 2.25L Tappit Hen
Capela da Quinta do Vesúvio 2022 Vintage Port is an exceptional expression of three special plots of vineyard at the Quinta do Vesúvio estate.
Named after the estate’s beautiful chapel and neighbouring vineyard, Capela do Vesúvio is made from 100-year-old vines in this plot, which have been successively interplanted using original vine cuttings to preserve their unique characteristics. The second plot is called the Escola – or ‘school’ – vineyard, in the estate’s central valley which is well shaded and collects useful rainwater. The third component comes from the half-a-century old plantings of Touriga Franca in the Vale da Teja.
Made by the traditional method of foot-treading in granite tanks in tiny quantities and only in years when these vines deliver extraordinary quality, this Vintage Port has a distinct identity created by these three unique micro-terroirs within the estate. It has aromas of schist dust with notes of lavender. There is an exciting intensity and freshness, with a long aftertaste of tea and tobacco.
The 2022 is only the fifth vintage that our family has ever made (previous vintages: 2007, 2011, 2016 & 2017). Watch a short video with Head Winemaker, Charles Symington, explaining the origins of this unique Vintage Port.
